Arranging a surprise party is not easy when you are involving caterers, florists, DJ's and the key ingredient: making sure that everyone is dry, warm and happy by including the all important marquee.
Ambassador Marquees played a key role in helping to organise this 18th Birthday surprise. Held at the client's home, this was a fantastic challenge for us. We worked very closely with family and friends to ensure that the Birthday Girl had the best party ever and that the secret stayed secret.
Our spec was to incorporate and extend the kitchen/dining area of the house which had bi-folding doors across the whole width of the back of the house. We were asked to include the patio area which had steps down to the area the client wanted to use as the dance floor.
We supplied a marquee with extension legs to accommodate the three different heights where the marquee stood, we dressed the marquee with a black star cloth LED lining, a solid floor with a white twinkling LED dance floor, up lights on the floor around the perimeter internally and a glitter ball to add movement of light and create the party atmosphere. As it was a party in January we added a thermostatically controlled heater along with LED poseur tables for drinks.
With no rear access to the garden, all the equipment had to be very carefully carried through the house. Plastic flooring was installed on assembly and dismantle days to ensure the client's flooring was protected.
Great efforts had been made to keep the surprise. On the day of the party the birthday girl had been kept late at work (her boss was in on the secret), her mechanic had taken her car away with a fake fault to stop her driving home, she was called to baby sit for her cousin for an hour that actually became two hours(all in on the secret) so she finally arrived home in a taxi to her surprise party with everyone waiting.
On arrival at her party, the birthday girl was treated to having her makeup done by a professional makeup artist and, after changing into her dress, the party began.
What a huge success it was. We incorporated a fountain of vodka and cranberry, pink champagne and bottled beers. The main event was the bright pink birthday cake. Entertainment was a casino on the upper floor of the dining area and a DJ.
After the event we chatted to the client to ensure we had met with their expectations.
As you can see. We're great at keeping a secret! Next time you're planning a surprise event give us a call.

"We loved all the planning of it and were really pleased with the marquee. It was perfect and better than we had visualised. It was great to have a mix of family and friends for an 18th. Would we do it again? Most definitely. Nothing was too much trouble."
